If your CV boot is damaged, the rotation gravity will throw out the grease around the under carriage; Check to see if you have black grease up under your car (close to the CV boots).

When the boot is damaged, it's only a matter of time before the entire CV joint is damaged (The lack of lubricant heat up the metal in the CV, causing it to fail.).
