• LADA Niva 1600, all old models, use the short shaft
• LADA Niva 1900, all models, use the short shaft
• LADA Niva 1700, is a mix of short and long shafts

What is the difference between the short and long intermediate shafts?

• The short shaft is the first (old) model. This is only used in combination with the steering gear having the corresponding long shaft (20,5 cm).
• The long shaft is the latest (new) model. This was introduced when tests were made with power steering, so they were interchangeable. The long shaft is only used in combination with the steering gear having the corresponding short shaft (10,5 cm), or power steering.
